Catherine Sue (Culbert) Fayer

Catherine Sue (Culbert) Fayer, 91, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. Catherine was born to the late Mary and Stephen Culbert in Waterbury, CT, on February 20, 1932. The oldest of six children, Catherine’s first experiences raising a family came from helping her mother with her beloved brothers and sisters; this gave her the foundation for becoming the wonderful mother that she became. Catherine freely gave countless volunteer hours throughout her lifetime to many organizations and continued through her later years by creating the singing group, The Flatones, at the Village of East Farms. She was most proud of being the before and after school program director at Saint Mary Magdalene’s School in Oakville, CT, where she continued to do what she did best, taking care of children. Catherine is survived by her children, Harvey Fayer, Jr., Leonard Fayer, Thomas (Cheryl) Fayer, Cathy (Doug) Allyn, Cindy (Mike) Whiteman, and daughter-in-law Diane Fayer. In addition, Catherine is survived by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, and her beloved son John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 574 Main St. Watertown, CT, on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Watertown, CT. In honor of Catherine’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
