John Hancock Tribute

 

Clifford John Hancock was born on July 11, 1945 in Poughkeepsie, NY and transitioned on November 7, 2022 in Waterbury, CT.  His parents were Charles Nelson and Nellie Scott Hancock.

John, a loving person and a gentleman, loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.  He also loved baseball and played on teams in Millbrook and Pine Plains, NY.  He graduated from Arlington High School and attended Dutchess Community College.

John was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in Texas.  After discharge from Lackland Air Force Base, he returned to Poughkeepsie and attended the Bank of Musical Knowledge.

He met his first wife, Cheryl Sherwood in Connecticut and was married.  They were blessed with two sons, Clifford, Jr. and Craig.  Clifford, Jr. now resides in Connecticut and Craig resides in Texas.

He had an illustrious banking career at People's National Bank in Hartford, CT for many years.  Later, he started his own Asbestos removal business entitled Environmental Engineering.  That was a very successful entrepreneurial enterprise which garnered him a successful lifestyle which included travel all over the world.

He later married Nancy Cresan and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter named Amber Hancock.  She now resides in New Jersey and is a valued member of the New York Metropolitan Opera House. 

John maintained residence in Orlando, FL for many years.  The family loved Florida living.  They owned several beautiful homes there.  Amber attended the prestigious Dr. Phillips High School.  Amber was blessed with her father's singing abilities.

John had two pets that he adored.  Wrinkles and Simba, Japanese Shar Peis, who were loving, constant companions.

He lived life and loved his family.  He is survived by his four adoring sisters - MaryLou Porter of Pleasant Valley, Barbara Scott Reed of Poughkeepsie, Doris May Reed of Pouquag and Marjorie Roselle Reed of Charlotte, NC and three grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was cremated and the family will host a celebration of life memorial at a later date.
